Philosophy
Beechwood Preschool will provide a child with a feeling a safety, love, comfort and acceptance creating an ideal learning environment for a child.
The classroom teachers will gain positive relationships with the child’s family. We understand the importance of looking not only at the child and their immediate environment, but also at the interaction of the larger environment as well. We plan to be involved or understand every part of a child’s life.
Involving parents in a child’s school helps to raise the child’s academic achievement. The child becomes motivated to learn, behavior improves, has regular attendance, and has an overall more positive attitude about school. Beechwood preschool welcomes family involvement and parent volunteers to help with activities throughout the year as long as they follow the school’s visitor policy.
Teachers are regularly offered and involved in professional development. Every day research is being done on early education providing new technology, and information that will help educate young children.
Beechwood faculty desires to develop intimate relationships with the children and their families in order to influence their lives as a whole. Our preschool is designed to guide children to become creative, expressive, confident, inquisitive, self-driven and successful learners.
Preschool Screenings
A research-based screening instrument (i.e. DIAL-4 Edition) will be utilized to identify children in need of assistance.
Parents should call Shaun Birindelli at 331-1220 x 6701 to confirm residency prior to making a screening appointment.
Eligibility Criteria:
- 3- and 4-year-old children with an identified disability or developmental delay;
- 4-year-old children (who turn 4 on or before August 1st) and whose families are income eligible; and
- Other Beechwood 3- and 4-year-old children in accordance with district policies
Home Visits
Home Visits
Early childhood educators will plan a minimum of two home visits per school year for each public preschool eligible child.
These visits provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together for the child’s benefit.
Home visits are pre-arranged at the time that is convenient for the parents/guardians.
